Canned Heat" is the second single from British funk/acid jazz band Jamiroquai's fourth studio album, Synkronized, released in 1999. The song was their second number-one on the US Dance Chart and peaked at number 4 on the UK Singles Chart as well as number 2 in Spain. The music video was directed by Jonas Åkerlund. The song is used in the film Napoleon Dynamite, as background music during the title character's famous dance performance before a high school assembly.
It’s just sort of a surreal dreamscape, a weird, play-with-the-title kind of song. Lyrically it’s probably the closest to me just playing with words for words' sake, of anything I’ve written. I guess it worked for a lot of people who heard it, but I have no idea how you’d begin to take that one literally. In another interview he elaborated further, stating, It’s funny because hits are usually sort of congruent, sort of an identifiable lyric idea, and that song pretty much had none. The chorus lyric is kind of beautiful and easy to remember
Tilted solar panels (front), create a stronger cooling efffect than panels flush with the roof.
Solar heat gain can be beneficial in the winter, as it reduces the need for heating, but in the summer can cause overheating. The total solar heat transmittance through transparent and translucent materials is equal to the solar heat that is transmitted through the material directly, plus the solar heat that is absorbed by the material and then re-emitted into the enclosed space. CORRECTION - Actual solar heat gain is dependent on the angle of incidence of solar radiation on the glazing (and so the proportion of diffuse and direct beam solar radiation) as well as the spectral make up of the solar radiation. However, as a simplified method, manufacturers will often only provide a spectrally-averaged solar heat gain coefficient for normally-incident solar radiation.
Main genre: Jazz, Blues. Was sampled in 2 songs. Drums Electronic, Dance. Nightmail 1 by Aphex Twin (2015).
