New Orleans: The Living Legends is a 1961 album by Kid Thomas & His Algiers Stompers featuring Emile Barnes. Originally released on the Riverside label, this CD was done by Original Jazz Classics/Fantasy Jazz in 1994 with a remastering by Joe Tarantino. Trumpeter Kid Thomas Valentine's playing is very erratic and the ensemble (which includes clarinetist Emile Barnes and trombonist Louis Nelson) is rarely in tune. Their renditions of the basic material ranges from raw to feeble and is a major disappointment. - Kid Thomas-trumpet Emile Barnes-clarinet Louis Nelson-trombone Joe James-piano Joseph Butler-bass Samuel Penn-drums.
