The Big Dream is the third studio album by the American film director and musician David Lynch, released on July 10, 2013. It was released on Sacred Bones Records in the United States and Sunday Best in Europe. Consisting of 12 "modern blues" songs, The Big Dream was recorded and produced by Lynch with his frequent musical collaborator Dean Hurley at Lynch's own Asymmetrical Studio in Los Angeles, California during 2012.
Produced by David Lynch & Dean Hurley. The Big Dream Lyrics. We make a wish To be Together. This night When we dream Together We'll remember When we dream Together The big dream. The time has come To say the words We want to hear The time has come To say the words We want to hear. This night When we dream Together We'll remember When we dream Together
David Lynch's musical legacy is not one to be trifled with. Throughout his many decades of film work, Lynch has made it a priority for the musical impact of his films to be just as haunting and brilliant as the visual. From the dystopian terror of his and Peter Ivers' Eraserhead soundtrack to his fruitful relationship with Angelo Badalamenti (Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks, Mulholland Drive), Lynch's soundscapes have given us a cerebral experience altogether unlike any other. As the hazard sign of the album cover foreshadows, The Big Dream is a long, winding, and surreal drive out onto a highway on the outskirts of Lynch's world. As we know from his films, Lynch loves using classic storytelling tropes and personas and morphing them over the course of time to fit his own needs. Here, he takes on the role of the romanticized Nashville rockstar.
David Lynch says he felt "more confident" making his second solo album, "The Big Dream," which comes out July 16. "I feel a little bit more confident, and I feel like the songs are tighter," Lynch, the filmmaker and visual artist tells Billboard. Better is a funny word; I just feel it's a bit of a step up that we got on this album. The Big Dream" follows Lynch's well-received 2011 release "Crazy Clown Time" and finds Lynch again writing and recording with regular cohort Big Dean Hurley. The album features 11 originals and a rendition of Bob Dylan's "The Ballad of Hollis Brown," while Lykke Li sings on the bonus track "I'm Waiting Here.
In 1983, David Lynch began writing a weekly syndicated comic called The Angriest Dog in the World. The main weakness is the same one found on Crazy Clown Time: the songs. As songs, they don’t do much or say much. There are no new wrinkles, no moments of surprise or recognition.

Album · 2013 · 13 Songs. That film director David Lynch has released a follow-up to 2011's Crazy Clown Time some 18 months later somewhat explains why he hasn't put out a full-length film since 2006's Inland Empire. Lynch truly has been busy in the studio recording music. Just as songs and incidental sounds were critical in creating atmosphere in his films, atmosphere is central to his music.
