20 of the Best (Gary Stewart album). 20 of the Best is a compilation album by American country music singer and songwriter Gary Stewart released in 1984 by RCA Records. In the period 1973 to 1983 Stewart enjoyed over twenty US Billboard country hits with RCA, including three duets with label-mate Dean Dillon. The tracks on this album spent over two hundred and ten weeks in the Billboard Country Charts and the track list includes a number of top-twenty successes.

Gary Ronnie Stewart (May 28, 1944 – December 16, 2003) was an American country musician and songwriter, known for his distinctive vibrato voice and his Southern rock influenced, outlaw country sound. During the peak of his popularity in the mid-1970s, Time magazine described him as the "king of honkytonk. He is remembered for a series of country chart hits from the mid- to late- 1970s, his biggest hit being "She's Actin' Single (I'm Drinkin' Doubles)," which topped the . country singles chart in 1975.

Nonetheless, a six-song mini-LP is what RCA issued by the duo of Gary Stewart and Dean Dillon for the 1982 release Those Were the Days, shortly after they'd issued a full-length album (Brotherly Love) on the same label.

Gary Stewart & Dean Dillon. Brotherly Love They have two good reasons to try to make buddyful music together-Gary's goin' down and Dean's comin' up-and they work at it manfully enough. But the disappointments begin with the jacket, where Gary sports a medallion (wore hippie beads in the good old days), and are symbolized by a slickly lascivious title hit that sums up the honky tonk as singles bar.
