Chicago was considered a center for polka in the 1960s and 70s, and the nationwide prominence of Eddie Blazonczyk's Versatones was a key factor attracting some of the best polka artists from around the country to the label. Since 1963, Bel-Aire Records has released over 300 recordings by more than 75 artists, and has produced a number of award-winning recordings including more than a dozen Grammy-nominated and one Grammy Award-winning recording since the Polka Category’s addition to the Grammys by NARAS in 1985. The Last Waltz is the second live album by the Band, released on Warner Bros. Records in 1978, catalogue 3WS 3146. It is the soundtrack to the 1978 film of the same name, and the final album by the original configuration of the Band. It peaked at on the Billboard 200. The triple album documents the Band's "farewell" concert which took place at Bill Graham's Winterland Ballroom on Thanksgiving Day 1976

The narrator at no stage stops the waltz nor does she criticise verbally her dance partner. The only criticism that the narrator has is through her internal voice. If anything women may not have been independent of men. Something that is symbolically noticeable by the fact that the narrator’s dance partner takes the lead while both are dancing. It might also be a case that Parker is exploring the social conventions that existed at the time and which may still exist today. That being a woman does not refuse a man when she is asked to dance. She is paying a heavy price for the discomfort she is encountering. Which may be the point that Parker is attempting to make.
But as an album, The Last Waltz soundtrack had to compete with the Band's earlier live album, Rock of Ages, with which it bears a certain superficial resemblance - both found the group trying to create something grander than the standard-issue live double, and both featured the group beefed up by additional musicians
