It marked the fifth album by Paul McCartney since his departure from the Beatles in April 1970. Although sales were modest initially, its commercial performance was aided by two hit singles – Jet and Band on the Run – such that it became the top-selling studio album of 1974 in the United Kingdom and Australia, in addition to revitalising McCartney’s critical standing. It remains McCartney’s most successful album and the most celebrated of his post-Beatles works. Several of the songs on Band on the Run reflect themes of escape and freedom, while the structure of the album recalled the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and Abbey Road.
Band on the Run" is the title song of Paul McCartney and Wings' 1973 album Band on the Run. The song was released as a single in 1974, following the success of "Jet", and became an international chart success. The song topped the charts in the United States, also reaching number 3 in the United Kingdom. The single sold over one million copies in 1974 in America. It has since become one of the band's most famous songs.
Band on the Run (оригинал Paul McCartney). Банда в бегах (перевод Rust из Москвы). Stuck inside these four walls. I hope you're having fun. Все мы очень счастливы! Band on the run. Банда в бегах, Band on the run. Банда в бегах. Well the undertaker drew a heavy sigh.
Paul’s fifth album since the break up of The Beatles, Band on the Run was made under difficult circumstances: band members Denny Seiwell and Henry McCullough left before recordings began in Lagos, Nigeria – which itself proved a challenging environment to work in. Despite the setbacks, Paul, Linda and Denny Laine persevered and Band on the Run – complete with its famous celebrity-packed cover art – proved a triumph.
Band On The Run is recorded in September and released in November in the US and on December 5th in Europe. More than 6 million of copies will be sold all over the world. It will remain 3 years in the US charts and, one more time, Paul McCartney will be rewarded with a Golden Record. Paul will also get 2 Grammy Awards for Band On The Run : one for the best recording and another one for the best vocal harmonies. Wings rewarded for Band On The Run. The album opens with an enthusiastic rock song, Band On The Run, mixing acoustic and electric guitar lines
The Paul McCartney Collection reissue "Band on the Run" – 5:10 "Jet" – 4:06 "Bluebird" – 3:22 "Mrs. Vandebilt" – 4:38 "Let Me Roll It" – 4:47 "Mamunia" – 4:50 "No Words" – 2:33 "Picasso's Last Words (Drink to Me)" – 5:50 "Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five" – 5:27 "Helen Wheels" – 3:44 (additional track to the original UK release).
Band On The Run is considered by many to be Paul's (and Wings) best album. It's definitly one of his best with a number of great songs - The classic "Jet","Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five", "Mrs. Vanderbilt","Let Me Roll It" and especially the iconic title track, "BOTR". I highly recommend it to newbies or fans who want to upgrade to a better sounding version. 2) You get the great documentary "One Hand Clapping" which documents Wings in the studio after the recording of the album when McCartney was braking in new members the late Jimmy McCulloch and Geoff Brittan (who would leave before the album "Venus and Mars" was completed).
