Plays The Music Of Luiz Bonfá And Cole Porter ‎(LP, Album). Great, entertaining album that combines the virtuoso authority of classical playing, juiciness and rhytmic punctuation of latin guitar music and jazz improvisation. Doesn't sound academic at all. Recording quality is enjoyable as well.

Artist Album Song Title. Carlos Barbosa-Lima Plays the Music of Antonio Carlos Jobim & George Gershwin Album Cover Art. CD 1. 1. Caminho De Pedra (Rocky Road).

As always, Barbosa-Lima has been busy since Classical Guitar last checked in with him-the cover story of the June 2013 issue mostly dealt with his wonderful Zoho Music label release Beatlerianas, featuring Brouwer arrangements of seven Beatles songs for guitar and string quartet, along with eight other Brouwer works for solo guitar, two guitars, string quartet, and guitar-and-string quartet. The Mason Williams album was produced by Del Casale, who plays guitar with Barbosa-Lima on half the 14 tracks, and also hired the three other players who help out on a few York–based percussionist Duduka de Fonseca, violinist Daisy Joplin, and clarinetist Rick Kriska.

Carlos Barbosa-Lima has long been a masterful interpreter of a wide range of melodic music. A brilliant acoustic guitarist, Barbosa-Lima gives taste and feeling to works that range from Gershwin to Bach, Jobim to Debussy. Although not an improviser, Barbosa-Lima has been featured on an extensive series of recordings for Concord's Concerto and Picante subsidiaries. A native of Brazil, Barbosa-Lima began studying the guitar when he was seven. Among his teachers were the influential Brazilian guitarist Isaias Savio and Andrés Segovia  . His releases have found him exploring the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim, George Gershwin, Scott Joplin, Luiz Bonfá, Cole Porter, Leonard Bernstein (songs from West Side Story), and a variety of lesser-known Brazilian composers.

Barbosa-Lima Plays Bonfa & Porter 1989. Concerto De Violao (Vinyl) 1959. 10 Dedos Magicos Num Violao De Ouro (Vinyl) 1958.

Barbosa-Lima would often meet him at Jobim's upper east side apartment in New York City for impromptu jam sessions. It was out of these sessions that came the recording Carlos Barbosa-Lima plays Music by Antônio Carlos Jobim and George Gershwin a crossover CD before the word was popular. Jobim was immediately impressed with Barbosa-Lima's arranging technique for guitar which Barbosa-Lima describes as "multi-linear" basically meaning several voices moving at once like classical guitar technique  . 1984 Plays the Music of Luiz Bonfa & Cole Porter (Concord). 1985 Impressions (Concord).
