Gold Afternoon Fix' is an elegant and solitary experience which reveals the myriad layers this band are renowned for only in the most recalcitrant of ways. listen to it and try to tell me that The Church had any intention of doing what was expected of them.
Gold Afternoon Fix should have been a consolidation of the band's increased commercial profile and cachet after "Under the Milky Way," heightened by the welcome reissue of the band's first five albums. Unfortunately, the Church's original choice for producer - John Paul Jones, who likely would have helped oversee a total masterpiece - was rejected, leading to another session with Wachtel. The end result is an album that's sometimes fantastic, sometimes merely there
Gold Afternoon Fix is the sixth album by the Australian psychedelic rock band The Church, released in February 1990. The album saw considerable promotion upon its release, but despite moderate success in the US, with the single "Metropolis" reaching the top of the Modern Rock Tracks chart, the release failed to deliver mass commercial appeal.
Gold Afternoon Fix is a music studio album recording by THE CHURCH (Prog Related/Progressive Rock) released in 1990 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. I would hesitate to even call this prog-related, but it has its moments. That said, Gold Fix Afternoon is an enjoyable album from The Church, mainly because the guitars sound phenomenal. The singer seems anesthetized but sounds great otherwise. This is an album of simple songs but excellent execution for the most part.
